A Holiday of Presidential Activities |
 Col. Ghaddaffi and Pres. Koroma In Sierra Leone, the tradition has been for the Christmas Holiday (running into the New Year) to witness a near-cessation of government activities, as functionaries usually go to their hometowns. Even newspapers take a break. And it was already a Cabinet decision for ministers to officially go on recess this year. However, unforeseen events, mainly from the international front, kept President Ernest Bai Koroma and government officials busy during the holiday period in the national interest. |

Guinean junta leaders visit Freetown |
Members of the National Council for Democracy and Development (CNDD), the name for the new junta that took over in neighbouring Guinea following the death of President Lansana Conte, yesterday paid a late-evening visit to Sierra Leone to further explain to President Ernest Bai Koroma the reasons for their take-over after he visited Conakry last week for the funeral of the late Guinean leader. |

President Koroma Visits Guinea, Pays Tribute To Late President |
 Pres. Koroma pays tribute to Conte President Ernest Bai Koroma today led a high-powered government delegation to participate in the funeral ceremonies for late Guinean President Lansana Conte in Conakry. “We are here to give the late man a fitting and befitting farewell,” he told journalists at the presidential lounge of the Aerogare International Airport shortly after landing from a UN helicopter. The President paid glowing tributes to the deceased: “As a nation, and personally, we are saddened by the passing away of late President Conte, a senior colleague and someone we have worked with,” he lamented. “As Sierra Leoneans, if he is no more, as brothers and sisters, whatever affects one country affects the other ...it’s also our loss.” |

 President Koroma and Mr. Margai The Leader of the People’s Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC), Charles Francis Margai,has used the occasion of the funeral of his mother, Musu Fanny Momoh (85), at his Gbangbatoke hometown to call on the SLPP to rally round President Ernest Koroma, “the people’s choice”, to demonstarte real love of country. Delivering the vote of thanks yesterday at the jam-packed Sir Albert Margai Memorial United Methodist Church, the presidential run-off decider, said his resolve to have supported President Koroma to clinch the presidency was “wise” and an “inspiration from God”, and that “from this day, I’ll not rest until the APC, the PMDC, and the SLPP come together to give His Excellency support to build this nation.” “Leadership comes from God, and if you love your country, you would support the one who has undoudtedly been chosen by God,” he maintained, amidst cheers from he congregation. |
