Biography of The Vice President

The Hon. Vice President, Ambassador Victor Bockarie Foh is a seasoned politician and an experienced administrator, born on June 12th 1946, at Jimmi Bagbo, Bo District, in the Southern Region of Sierra Leone to the late Mr. Bockarie Momoh Foh and the late Haja Betty Foh, nee Rogers. In the field of Sierra Leone politics, Vice President, Ambassador Victor Bockarie Foh is an outstanding figure more especially in the governing All Peoples Congress (APC) party.

He was educated at Jimmi Bagbo, Bo School and University of Durham now Fourah Bay College, from where he graduated with Bachelor of Arts (Economics) in 1969.

In the 1969/70 school year, the Vice President taught Economics and Government at the Ahmadiyya Secondary School, Kissy Dockyard Freetown, as the first indigenous Sierra Leonean graduate teacher in that school.

From 1970 to 1982, Vice President, Ambassador Victor Bockarie Foh served as Assistant District Officer, District Officer, Senior District Officer in 8 (eight) out of 12 (twelve) Political Districts in Sierra Leone.

Ambassador Victor Bockarie Foh gives his wealth of knowledge of Sierra Leone to the APC, a party he joined in 1970 as a registered card carrying member.

For his loyalty and invaluable services, he was awarded the National Honour of Member of the Order of the Rokel (M.R) by the late President Siaka P. Stevens, founder of the APC in the year 1978.

Vice President Ambassador Foh was principal author of the current APC 5th December 1995 Constitution and the first Assistant National Secretary General of the Party under this Constitution.

Vice President, Ambassador Foh later became the APC Regional Chairman, South.

Vice Ambassador Foh was Vice Presidential Candidate for the APC in the crucial 1996 presidential elections. He was elected APC Member of Parliament in 1996 and he was acclaimed an expert of the Sierra Leone Constitution and the man of the down trodden.

Vice President, Ambassador Victor Bockarie Foh among others pioneered the path to Sierra Leone’s democratic dispensation after the National Provisional Ruling Council regime. He represented the APC at the Bintumani 1 and 2 Conferences and Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

As National Secretary General of the APC, the Hon. Vice President, Ambassador Victor Bockarie Foh took the party from opposition to win the 2007 and 2012 presidential and parliamentary elections.

In 2013, he was appointed Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China.

In 2014, he was awarded the National Honour of Commander of the Order of the Republic of Sierra Leone (CRSL).

He was Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China until his appointment as the country’s Vice President in March, 2015. Vice President, Ambassador Victor Bockarie Foh has widely travelled to countries in Europe, Asia, North and South America and Africa on national issues.

The Hon. Vice President, Ambassador Foh is married to Mrs. Jonta Muminatu Foh, nee Turay and are blessed with 4 (four) children.
