The incoming head of the Department for International Development (DFID) in Sierra Leone, Mary Hunt, on Friday 8 September paid a courtesy call on President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma at State House in Freetown.

Mary Hunt succeeds Sally Taylor, former head of DFID - Sierra Leone and has been in the country for the past ten days now. She was accompanied by the British High Commissioner to Sierra Leone Guy Warrington and other staff of the High Commission.

Welcoming the new DFID boss, President Koroma commented on the long standing relationship with DFID, saying that the United Kingdom through DFID has been very supportive to him since he assumed office as President in 2007 to date.

"They have been supportive during our fight against the Ebola scourge and the 24 months recovery program that has just wrapped up," he said, and added that they are still supportive to the present disaster recovery.

With the coming of Mary Hunt as the new head, the president expressed hope that the trend of the relationship would be maintained.
